AMBASSADOR WILLIAM LACY SWING JOINS FUSANG BOARD
HONG KONG / LABUAN / SINGAPORE, 5 JUL 2019 — Fusang Group is pleased to announce Ambassador William Lacy Swing’s appointment as Board Advisor to the Group. Ambassador Swing will be playing an integral role in advising Fusang from a strategic regulatory perspective, a fundamental pillar on which Fusang’s offerings have been built.
“It’s truly a privilege that we have attracted the trust of such an illustrious Board. The addition of Ambassador Swing strengthens our dedication in expanding towards unchartered waters, ensuring a steadfast commitment towards regulation and demonstrating the transparency of the future of finance,” said Henry Chong, Chief Executive Officer of Fusang.
With over half a century of diplomatic and public service, Ambassador Swing served under ten US Presidents as Ambassador to six countries: South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Liberia, the Republic of the Congo and Haiti.
Upon completion of his US diplomatic career, Ambassador Swing went on to serve in senior United Nations positions for seventeen years at the level of Under Secretary-General. From 2003 to 2008, he was Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) and Chief of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo — the first billion-dollar Mission and largest peacekeeping operation in UN history. He also served as SRSG in Western Sahara.
Ambassador Swing was elected in 2008 to become Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), completing his second term in 2018. Under his leadership, the IOM expanded its membership and global footprint and became a United Nations Agency in 2016.
